T+70: Turning the corner,maybe?

Kay's white cell count was slight up today, from 0.2 to 0.3, which is the equivalent of saying from nothing to next-to-nothing. She ha been suffering nausea from 7pm yesterday, more or less right through the night. She was sick at 1am and agin at 9am. The poor thing is scared of being sick and scared of having to swallow the NG tube again, but both times she managed to keep it in.

This morning she was very withdrawn, mostly because of the sickness. But it's quite hard to see her so miserable. We're trying everything we can think of to managed the nausea but there are rather many variables that are difficult to control.

I'm too hot to write much more, it feels like it's 30C in our bedroom (at home) at the moment. Dread trying to sleep in this heat.

  1. Hi Kay,
First of all: Congratulations on Natties birthday!
You are going through a difficult time hé. Being sick and tired every day is not pleasant. But the fact that your body accepts the donor cells is a good thing. You will get better!!! It takes some time which is not so strange considering that everything in your little body has to start from zero again. It is after all some kind of re-birth. You know, next year you can have two birthdays, one that happened 9 years ago and one April the 23th. Sounds promising don't you think? Double party, double presents!
For now just rest and try to eat whenever you have appetite and go out in the sun, the blue sky, the trees and the green grass (which isn't so green anymore at the time) when you are allowed to. And then you will see that every day and every week you can do a little bit more and there will come a day on which you will forget that you were that sick. I am pretty sure of that.
    Caring,
    Viviane
